Carole (Hartman) Lape, 76, passed away Saturday, January 9 in Phoebe Berks. She was the daughter of the late LeRoy Walter Hartman and Mildred Miller Lebo Hartman. She was predeceased by her husband, Brian Lape, whom she was married to for 53 years and lived in Tulpehocken Township. She is survived by their son, Troy Lape, husband of Treasure, Tulpehocken Township, and their sons Cory, Orwigsburg, and Sean, Tulpehocken Township who affectionately knew her as “Nam”. She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Lebo, husband of Glenna, Tulpehocken Township; Marilyn Schafer, widow of William, Reinholds; Nancy Zimmerman, wife of Roy, Delaware; David Hartman, husband of Phyllis, Robesonia and she was predeceased by her brother, Glenn Hartman, husband of Kim, Womelsdorf. Carole will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Her childhood home was in Robesonia and she graduated from Conrad Weiser High School in 1962. She worked at the First National Bank of Fredericksburg for many years, retiring as their controller/vice president. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Robesonia. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, reading, movies, Scrabble, gardening, volunteering for Berks Encore Meals on Wheels and exercising with the ladies at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren. The Cremation Society of Berks County, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. At Carole’s request, no services will be held and in lieu of flowers, she wished memorial gifts be made to Berks Encore-Meals on Wheels, 40 N. 9th St., Reading, PA 19601.
