Surrounded by his beloved dogs and loving family, David Wallace Johnson passed on July 19, from lung disease. David dedicated his retirement to allowing many a dog to take complete advantage of him. He leaves behind Charlie, Toby, Jethro, Archie, and Tank, but joins Champ, Harvey, Ellie, Zoe, Prince, Daisy, Lily, Hobo, Max, Abbey, and Murphy over the Rainbow Bridge. David’s love of dogs did not eclipse his love of family. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Raney Johnson of Sinking Spring; his children, Lisa Johnson of Melbourne, Florida, David G. Johnson, II and his wife Krista of Bryant, Iowa, Kelly Nguyen and her husband James of State College, Pennsylvania, KimLee Decker of State College, Pennsylvania; his beloved grandchildren McKenzie Stephenson of Clinton, Iowa, Aidan Johnson of Melbourne, Florida, Emily and Ethan Johnson of Bryant, Iowa, and Izzy Nguyen and Sidney Beveridge of State College, Pennsylvania,; his sister’s life partner Bill Grohmann of Amherst, Massachusetts and their children Jesse Johnson of Hefei, China and LiLi Johnson of Madison Wisconsin; and his mother-in-law and friend Joan Raney. He is predeceased by his parents Helen Wallace Johnson and D. Gale Johnson and his sister Kay Johnson.
David was born on March 6, 1943. He received his Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University in 1965 and MBA from the University of Chicago in 1981. David dedicated his career to health care. He worked as a hospital administrator for Allegheny County General Hospital and then supplying home-bound patients with needed medical equipment.
