Earl Henry Wanner, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and Marine passed away on November 10, 2021 in the comfort of his home in Kenhorst, PA. Born in Bethel, PA he was the son of Paul Wanner and Marguerite (Blandford) Wanner. Earl was married to Carol Ann (Smith) Wanner for 56 years and she predeceased him in 2020 to prepare his place in heaven.
Earl served in the United States Marine Corps earning the rank of Sergeant and was honorable discharged in 1961. He subsequently became a licensed practical nurse and worked for many years at Wernersville Mental Hospital as a psychiatric nurse; his quiet calm helped many a patient. He was a skilled carpenter and built an addition onto his own home and entire home with his son Christopher. Earl was an adept motorcycle rider and taught his sons to ride at a very early age. He loved Nascar, Jesus and his large family.
Earl had 11 brothers and sisters, four children: Rita Wanner Sissel, Diane Wanner, Christopher Wanner and Timothy Wanner. Grandchildren: Benjamin, Samantha, Henry, Thomas, Candace, Travis, Maryanne, Jade, Crystal and Eddie. Great-Grandchildren: Garrett, Alexis, Blaze, Lyndsey, Hayden and Emily and one Great great grandchild Alayah. Earl had an extensive toy collection of slot cars, trains and legos which made him the most fun “Poppy” ever.
If you knew Earl you knew a fine human being and a good man. Raise a toast and wish him Godspeed. Semper Fidelis.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Avenue, on Saturday November 20, 2021 at 11:00 am to be followed by a luncheon at the Community Center directly next to the church.
