Gwendolyn Marie Wismer (Werner), 85, died peacefully in her sleep on September 21st, 2022, in her Laureldale residence. Gwen was born on August 17th, 1937, in Abington, PA.
As a teenager, Gwen excelled as a Fire Baton Twirler and was a Champion Roller Skate Dancer. Before becoming a homemaker, Gwen worked at the historic V. La Rosa & Sons Macaroni Co., in Warminster, PA.
Gwen met the love of her life, Harry in 1975. They were married on December 11th, 1976, on the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Willow Grove, PA. They spent the next 42 years together, moving to Hawaii, then Florida in 1985, where they spent the majority of their lives togetheruntil Harry’s passing in 2018 at their residence in Laureldale, PA.
Gwen and Harry loved to travel and spent much of their time traveling the U.S. in one of their motor homes or fifth wheels. As members of the Coachmen Club and Lifetime Members of the Good Sam Club. Gwen entered and seemed to always win many crafting contests while attending camping rallies around the country. She was talented with a glue gun and her crafted hats were legendary.
Gwen was very active with her children’s activities, including band, flags and twirling. She spent time as the Equipment Manager and Served on the Board of Director’s for the West Pasco Youth Soccer League in New Port Richey, Florida in the 1990’s.
Her love for her family knew no bounds and they were always her number one priority. Her infectious smile, glowing personality and witty sense of humor will be missed by all who met her.
She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Joseph “Sonny” Werner of Carson City, Nevada, and of course her husband, Harry R. Wismer.
She is survived by her sisters, Sandy Rodriguez, Linda Werner and brother Jack Werner.
She is also survived by her 6 children: Russell Primrose and his wife Susan (Thomas) of Tampa, FL., Tamela Sprigg and her husband Mark of Lewisburg, PA, Steven Primrose and his wife Barbara of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Marcene Wismer and her husband Rick (Heckman) of Fleetwood, PA, Darlene Bruenig and her husband Robert of Hartsel, CO, and Marke Wismer and his wife Jamie, of Leesport, PA.
She is also leaving behind 8 grandchildren: Lissa Marie, Alecia, Nicholas, Brian, Christopher, Cody, Ethan, and Emma. And 4 great grandchildren; Milo, Julian, Daisy, and Melody.
The family would like to thank all of Gwen’s current and past caregivers for their extraordinary care and compassion.
A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church on October 8th.
Gwen and Harry will be interned together at Fort Indiantown Gap National Military Cemetery at a future date.
