Joseph Masleh Obituary

Joseph R. Masleh, 82, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away  peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in  Pottstown on March 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Frank J. Masleh  and Grace Leona (Blackwell) Masleh. Joe is survived by his three loving  daughters: Melissa Trani (Ernest) of Douglassville, PA; Louise Robinson  (Steven D.) of Woodstock, GA; and Kristin Morton (Madison “Matt”) of  Pottstown, PA. He was a proud grandfather to Emily Hammonds  (Joseph), Kelsey Parker (Christopher), Samuel Robinson (Lakin),  Owen Morton (Mia Corbacio), Evan Trani, Elizabeth Trani,  and Grayce Morton.  

His legacy continues through his four beloved great 

granddaughters: EllieGrey Parker, Georgia Parker, Josie Robinson, and  Madison Parker. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald Masleh of  Ephrata, PA, and Ronald Masleh of East Manchester, VT.  

Also surving is his loving companion, Jill Schuler. 

A 1962 graduate of Pottstown High School, Joe was a starting defensive  end of the school’s undefeated football team that year. He went on to  work for many years at American Inks and Coatings of Valley Forge, PA. Joe’s lifelong passion for athletics and mentoring young people left a  lasting mark on the Pottstown community. He was recognized for his  dedication to character, sportsmanship, and athletic excellence during  his tenure as varsity softball coach at St. Pius X High School (1985–1991),  where his team captured the 1989 PAC-10 Softball Championship.    

He served as head girls’ basketball coach at Pottstown High School.  Turning the program around from winless seasons to several league  final four appearances and a PAC-10 Championship during the  1996/1997 season.  

He went back to St. Pius X as the Head Girls Basketball Coach in 1999.  Reviving that program to win a Pac-10 Championship in 2002. 7 District 1  Championships, (6 were consecutive) and 7 State Playoff appearances.  Joe was selected as Coach of the Year for the 2002-2003 season. 

In the community he started up and served as the Head Coach for the  women’s 18 & Under PAL Team. Consisting of the top players from the  league. He led the girls’ team to the 1995 P.A.L. National Championship.  

In 2017, Joe was inducted into the Tri-County Area Chapter of the  Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his many  contributions to local athletics. He was a member of the Women’s  Basketball Coaches of America, past president of both the American  Inks Athletic Association and the St. Al’s Booster Club, a past member  of the Coaches of A.C. Pottstown, and the first commissioner of the  Pottstown Soccer League. 

Beyond his many accomplishments, Joe will be remembered most as a  wonderful, loving, and dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also a writer of poetry, a builder of garden ponds,  an avid gardener, and a devoted reader of Russian literature. Joe’s kindness, humor, and unwavering support and love for his family  and players alike will continue to inspire all who knew him.    

Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life on  Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Pottstown Elks Lodge #814, located at   61 High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464, where friends may greet the family  from 11am – 2pm. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by  all who knew him.
