Kathleen Dautrich Obituary

Kathleen Dorothy Dautrich, 75, of West Lawn, died peacefully after battling cancer on July 6, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Reading, PA on August 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. Dautrich and Eleanor S. (Fisher) Dautrich.

Kathleen was a graduate of Exeter High School Class of 1967, where she wrote poetry, aspired to be a journalist and was an editor of the school newspaper. She was a shy, intelligent, well-read person who was compassionate and caring toward others.

Kathleen was a young mother with three children when she made the decision to continue her education at Albright College. After Kathleen graduated from Albright summa cum laude, she went on to law school at Temple University and commuted to Philadelphia until graduation. She began her law career in Berks County as a law clerk to the (late) Honorable Elizabeth Ehrlich. After her clerkship, Kathleen held various positions with Berks County until she moved into private practice. During her over 30 years in practice, she was always generous with her time and always took on clients who had a good cause. Kathleen was a zealous advocate for her clients and cared about them on a personal level.

In her personal life, she raised her children and grandchildren, enjoyed a good meal, the company of family, a good book, horse racing, Law and Order, her pets (most recently her dog Bella and cat Tinka), and antiques. She operated her antique business at Black Angus for 27 years before the facility closed.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, LaDean “Billy” Scott; her brother, David R. Dautrich (Diane) of Reiffton, PA; her son, Michael D. Dautrich (Robin), Wyomissing, PA; her daughter, Jaimee A.M. Dautrich, Mt. Penn, PA; her grandchildren, Anthony Fells, Brynn Dautrich, Adrianna Dautrich, Angel Ortiz, and Owen Dautrich.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Suzanne Baver; her daughter Shannon Dautrich; and her grandson Alexander “Alex” Fells. Kathleen touched many lives and will stay in our hearts forever.

Her wishes were to be cremated and to have a private celebration of her life. Donations may be made in Kathleen’s memory to the Chopper Foundation, Zoe’s House Rescue or Blankets of Hope.

Cremation Society of Berks County, Inc., is handling arrangements.
