Kenneth A. Ortlip, 65, of Mohnton, PA, passed away in Reading Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Robert Ortlip Sr. and Doris (Peck) Ortlip.
Ken graduated from Northern Garrett County High School in Maryland and proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he attended a Bob Marley concert, sparking a lifelong passion for reggae music—a love reflected in the name of his devoted dog and companion, Mr. Marley.
After his military service, Ken dedicated over 30 years to R.V. Industries in Honeybrook, PA, before retiring recently. Since his time on his high school's football and wrestling teams, Ken became an avid sports fan cheering passionately for the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football, where he enjoyed many hours tailgating with friends and family.
Ken’s love of golf was a defining part of his life. Rarely missing a Sunday tee time, he even played during his honeymoon in Myrtle Beach. In 1989, he began organizing an annual golf vacation with friends and family, a tradition that brought joy to many over the years.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Jayne (Rexrode) Ortlip; three daughters: Amanda Ortlip (Andrew), Melanie Mull, and Jennifer Fenstermacher; his sister Susan Girard; and brothers Michael Ortlip, David Ortlip, and Dennis Ortlip. He will also be missed dearly by his eight (8) grandchildren and four (4) great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother Robert Ortlip Jr. and sister Sandra Delgado.
Known for his love of hosting gatherings, Ken found happiness surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held, hopefully at a local course, at a later date to honor his memory and share cherished stories.
Ken’s warmth and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
