Lawrence E. Jones

Lawrence E. Jones, 86, was born in Harrisburg to the late Minnie (Scheetz) and Clinton Jones. In his youth Larry enjoyed playing sports and as an adult he was an avid sports fan. He graduated from John Harris HS and then Lebanon Valley College with a degree in chemistry. He met his wife of 63 years, Georgianne (Funk), at LVC. He worked for Glidden Paints and later independently at Bulk Chemicals where he developed patents for paint coatings. He was father to Larry Jr. (Janice), Susan (James Maurer) and Karen (Paul VanHouten). Grandfather to Andrew, Kathryn, Jason (Annie), Eric, Laura, Peter, Julie, Allison, Abigail, Bridget and Noah who went to heaven before him. He was also predeceased by his brother, Lloyd Cobaugh, and aunt, Betty Scheetz. Larry was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring and sang in the choir. Georgie and Larry lived in Whitfield for 60 years where he enjoyed classical music, history books, Sudokus and playing bridge. Larry will be missed by his wife, Georgie, and his extended family.
