Matthew David King

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Matthew David King, who left us on October 11, 2024, at the age of 49, after a 6 year battle with liver disease.   Matthew was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend.

Matthew was born on August 18, 1975, in Scottsbluff, NE, to David and Janet (Eckhardt) King. The family resided in Independence, MO, as well as Scottsbluff, NE, before settling in Lancaster County, PA, where Matthew finished high school as a homeschooled graduate of Christian Liberty Academy. Matt was a bright individual, learning to read at the age of 3, and began programming computers when the first PCs were just coming out. Some of his early jobs included working for Forry & Hacker Printers, Cardinal Technologies, and GRACO Children's Products prior to settling into telecommunication as a career. After several years operating his own company, Kingdom Communication Systems, in 2015 he signed on with Verizon as a Communications Engineer where his passion for technology shone brightly.

Outside of work, he was known for his love of pinball, often found playing with friends or competing in tournaments. A true music aficionado, he had an eclectic taste and reveled in discovering obscure artists and genres, and sang karaoke whenever the opportunity presented itself. Matthew attended Christ House E.C. Church in Ephrata, PA, where he found community and support, with his brother Tim serving as Pastor. His faith was a source of strength and comfort during his life and illness.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Christina "Tuna" Queen, whom he married on August 9, 2015, and his cherished step-daughter, Autumn of Elverson; parents, David and Janet King of Mohnton; siblings Joel (Beth) King of Mohnton; Laura (Ben) Leggott of Gering, NE; Timothy (Christe) King of Ephrata; Michelle (Josh) Funk of Kotzebue, AK; Jessica (Samuel) Hughes of San Diego, CA; and Christopher (Jaimee) King of Lancaster; as well as 20 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Matthew's life will be held 11 AM on November 2, 2024, at Christ House E C Church, 131 Terrace Ave, Ephrata PA, allowing friends and family to share memories and honor his legacy. The service will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_ngMA9SutI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Natural Lands (NatLands.org) in Media PA, in Matthew's memory.

Matthew will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, humor, and love of life.
