Nancy Gene Cooper died in her Muhlenberg Township home of natural causes on April 9, 2021. She was 78. Born in Alexander City, Alabama, she was the daughter of Willie and Odie Bell Goffer (née Farrow). Nancy was wed to Kelley Cooper in 1961, who served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. The couple removed to Reading, Pennsylvania soon after their marriage. In Reading, Nancy worked as a concierge and retired after more than 25 years of service.
Nancy and her husband raised three sons and a daughter, all by whom she is predeceased. She is also predeceased by her husband, who died in 1994. In addition to her four children, she raised two grandchildren, Episcopal seminarian Michael Angel Molina and his brother Zacharias Pullins. She has numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six sisters and one brother. Nancy was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church at Fifth and Court Streets in the City of Reading. She will be interred there after a private service is held.
