It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Paul James Luyet, 62, on September 22, 2024, in his Oley residence.
He was born November 24,1961, in Toledo, OH, and raised in Stroudsburg, PA. Paul was married for 36 years to his loving wife, Kimberly J. (Herron) Luyet, who patiently nurtured and cared for him for 3 years during his illness. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his son, Peter J. Luyet of Sumner, WA, his mother, Rose Marie (Cutcher) Luyet of Saylorsburg, PA, his sisters, Kathy R. Hulsizer, of Reeders, PA wife of Kevin L. Hulsizer, and Mary Luyet of Evergreen, CO along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was a 1979 graduate of Notre Dame High School, East Stroudsburg, PA. He then attended East Stroudsburg University and graduated from Penn State University – Wilkes Barre, with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
He was employed with MCI Telecommunications, Inc. as a telecommunications technician for several years in fiber optics. Subsequently, he was the field operations northeast district manager with Crown Castle, MA, where he retired from in 2020.
Paul was the light in our family, and his quick wit, humor and generous spirit will live on in those who had the pleasure to know him. His son, Peter recently completed a marathon in his dad’s honor for glioblastoma research. Paul was so proud of that accomplishment.
Paul enjoyed traveling with his family. Some of his favorite destinations were Rehoboth Beach, DE; Ocean City, MD; and Walt Disney World, which he absolutely adored. A lover of all music, the Beatles were his favorite band, and Paul was an avid Notre Dame fan as well as a Detroit Tigers fan. Lastly, Paul’s passion was lifting weights with Peter, all things ‘fantasy’ and his beloved Rottweilers Dozer and Gracie.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond P. Luyet and his brother, Kenneth P. Luyet.
