Sally Ann Giles, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the early morning hours of September 13, 2024, after a decade long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born to Carl Ethan and Jean Iris (Schwalm) on February 1, 1953, in Reading, Pennsylvania. She was the third of six children. After graduating from Reading High School in 1971, Sally married her high school sweetheart, David A. Giles. Sally was a devoted mother to Jennifer, Caroline and David, Jr. Her biggest dreams were building a loving home for her children and husband. Sally and Dave raised their children in Wyomissing, enjoying walks through the Wyomissing Park and Birdland. She loved her small, beautiful community and spent most of her time with family.
Sally Ann Heinly is preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Carl Heinly, and her sister, Mary (Heinly) Hooks. Sally is survived by her husband of 52 years, David Giles, and her children, Jennifer Fink, wife of Shaun Fink, Caroline Houck, wife of Zack Houck, and David Giles, fiance’ of Marissa Calafaty. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two sisters and husbands, two brothers and wives, and two sister-in-laws. Her best friends were her children and her sister, Carla Heckman, wife of Tom Heckman.
Sally loved God, she was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and homemaker and she loved exercising and taking care of her body and mind. She was a longtime member of Calvary Bible Fellowship, Sinking Spring. Sally was known for her strength, energy, thoughtfulness and gentle, giving nature. She loved her family fiercely and was a woman of deep faith. Sally and Dave loved to travel with their family and some of their favorite places to visit were Singer Island in Florida, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, and Sheridan County in Wyoming.
She will be missed beyond measure, but she is whole again, walking with the Lord. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association. Many thanks and appreciation to our wonderful care team at Heartland Hospice in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.
