Our beloved Sheila (Sen) Carter entered the kingdom of heaven on September 2 from the Heritage at Green Hills, Pennsylvania at the age of 65.
Born in Hawaii in May 1960, she attended the University of Hawaii and graduated from Biola University. She was a registered nurse, starting at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu and then working in the ICU of several hospitals near Philadelphia.
Her husband of 38 years, Jay Carter, describes her as “the most genuine and loving person I have ever met. My soulmate and love of my life.” She was active in tennis (WTA), bible study, book club, and the Park Road Presbyterian Church. She was an avid sports fan of the LA Lakers, Eagles, and especially tennis. She always showed genuine interest and care for people and as a result, had many, many, friends.
She is predeceased by her father, Clarence Sen and mother Diana (Kim) Sen. She leaves her husband, Jay Carter, brothers Wesley and Wendall Sen, sons Stephen and Keanue Carter, daughter-in-law, Madison Carter, stepchildren James R. Carter, Shannon Carter, Wendi Hamm, foster daughter Lotes Nelson, nieces Cherise, Courtney, Chelsie, and Christina. There is so much more family, including cousins she grew up with: Vena, Rhona, Jenny, Benton. Sheila was loved by many including her tennis club, baby-sitting co-op, homeschool group, Bible study, and her church family who blessed her spiritual fellowship since 1991, and meals since she was ill.
Sheila wanted to be cremated and have her ashes scattered in the ocean in Hawaii. She wanted a celebration of life in Hawaii and in Pennsylvania, with no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Park Road Presbyterian Church, with a visitation from 10 - 11 am in the Church.
