Joline T. Goodhart: 09/06/28-01/09/21
Jack “Goody” Goodhart of Wyomissing, PA passed away on Jan 5, 2021 at the age of 94 from COVID complications. Joline "Jo" Goodhart of Wyomissing passed away four days later at the age of 92 of natural causes on Jan 9, 2021. Both were residents of Berks Heim when they died.
Goody was born 10/31/26 in Reading, PA to Floyd and Viola Goodhart. He graduated from Reading HS in 1943 and joined the US Navy the next year. He was proud to have served his country and always wore his WWII veteran’s hat around town. After the Navy he worked in sales at Reading Heater, served as a patrolman with the Spring Township police department and various sales positions within AAA Berks and AAA Atlanta, GA. Upon returning to the Reading area he completed his working career as an inside sales representative at JC Ehrlich. Outside of his profession, Goody was actively involved with Junior Achievement of Berks for many years and served with the Prison Ministry of West Lawn UMC from 2008-2018. His warm and affable nature contributed to his success in every venture throughout his long life and he’ll be sadly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his sister Mary Ellen Mosser of Emmaus, PA.
Jo was born 09/06/28 in Reading, PA to J. Edwin and Emma Tobias. She graduated from Reading HS in 1946 and married Goody in July 1948. Jo worked as both a telephone operator and a department store employee, but was a loving mother and supportive housewife most of her married life. She enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns, and admiring the beauty and simplicity of the Lancaster countryside. She was graceful and kind, and was known for her sweet and demure nature. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Miller of Wyomissing and Gertrude Hallowell of Wernersville.
Goody and Jo were married for 71.5 years and are survived by their 2 children: Steven Goodhart of Fleetwood and Wendy-Jo Fisher (Charles) of Sinking Spring and The Villages, FL, as well as their grandchildren: Steve Goodhart (Kelly) of Mohnton, Tara Hawkins (Matt) of Suwanee, GA, Trista Carlisle of Harrison, OH and Tori Mays (Matt) of Sinking Spring. They also are survived by their 7 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date in the Wyomissing area. If you would like to make a donation in their memory, please send it to the Prison Ministry in care of West Lawn UMC at 15 Woodside Ave West Lawn, PA 19609. Their final resting place will be at the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville at a date to be determined later.
